Here we start at Ethia village heading towards the seaside village of Tsoutsouros. Most of the route, we are descending towards the coast. You´ll find yourself stopping regularly having a good excuse for a sneaky rest while enjoying the vistas. Make sure you are wearing your swimsuit. When reaching Tsoutsouros, take the views in from the port and then head towards the far end of the beach, where you can park your bike in front of the tavern Zorbas (open throughout the year).

The small village pf Paranymfi (population: 137, elevation 520m) lies in the south of the Heraklion district in a valley on the edge of the Asterousia mountain range. It is one of the two small villages that you still encounter when you are travelling from Charakas to the beautiful village and the beaches of Tris Ekklisies. The other, even smaller village, between Paranimfi and Charakas is called Amigdalos. Along the route you will pass several nice small churches.
From Paranymfoi there is a walking path that runs via Agios Pavlos to the coastal village of Tris Ekklisies. Along the way you will pass the small monastery of St. Paul that dates from the 13th / 14th century. There is also a waterfall to the south of the village of Paranimfi.

The etymology of the name Achentrias derives from the ochendra as the Cretans call the viper. Therefore, it is said that Achentrias means the place with many vipers.

A small oasis is formed by the palm forest of Agios Nikitas, which is fed by Kefalovrisi, a spring of constant flowing water next to the church of Agios Antonios. According to one theory the palm forests of Crete were created from the seeds of the dates which the Phoenician merchants ate during their stop for water.
The descent to the beach is from the old road of Apomini which is no longer used. In many places the road is destroyed. It is only recommended for experience cyclists. The view, however, is breathtaking.
